Antique Nabisco Store Counter Display / 1923 / Glass and Tin / National Biscuit Company General Store Display
Vintage item from the 1920s
Materials: tin, glass, cardboard
An antique Nabisco / National Biscuit Company Store Counter Display Case used for Nabisco Sandwiches from 1923. A grocer's patron would open the glass lid and pick out their sandwich cookies in the early 1900's.
The tin and glass lid with a hinge opens and closes nicely. It is labeled National Biscuit Company on dark forest green with the Nabisco symbol to the left on the top. It is embossed on the side with Property of National Biscuit Company "Uneeda Bakers" / Patented March 13, 1923.
The box is heavy cardboard and is marked on the sides with the Nabisco Trademarks. The end is marked National Biscuit Company / General Office, New York, N.Y. / Made in U.S.A.
Given its age this box is in extremely good condition with glass intact with no chips or cracks.
The top of the box has tabs that are folded out and then the lid is secured to the box. The lid was used repeatedly for boxes full cookies.
This would look great for display or use in any kitchen or pantry. It harkens back to a time of general stores and neighborhood grocers.
